Now it starts: Vilnius Mini Maker Faire!

International makers’ festival “Vilnius Mini Maker Faire” takes place in Lithuania on May 26th-27th. This festival will gather everyone, who is interested into tech creators movement and newest DIY inventions. During the event, robotics, electronics, engineer, biology, arts and crafts, startups and schools’ projects will be presented in Energy and Technology Museum, Vilnius.

From kneaded circuit to enormous “camera obscura” installation

Participants of “Vilnius Mini Maker Faire” will pay most of their attention to promotion of interactivity and collaboration. For example, members of Kaunas “Makerspace” will amaze attendees with LED Ping Pong project, Electric Karting, Kneaded Circuit and other interactive installations. “Padirbtuves” makerspace will offer to make oneself a souvenir, check “camera obscura” installation - early photography tool. Alytus Vocational Education Centre, together with Olab.lt (Open Lab) will present mobile Fab-Lab “M-LAB bus” project. Olab.lt will also present LED lights’ solutions, a playing fountain installation, teach how to create 3d printer. “Technariumas” will participate with its’ DIY Fun Science.

Contests, lectures and interactive entertainment

“Micro:hackaton” contest will take place during the event: with a help of mentors and professional makers, participants of the contest will create various engineering, light, musical etc. projects using micro:bits.  Lectures’ stage will be curated by first and the only Lithuanian hackers camp “No Trolls Allowed”. Among main guests: “Bett Awards” finalist, educational toys creator “CBiS Education” founder Chriss Burgess, “Phablabs 4.0” coordinator Stijn De Mil, lecturers from FabLab worldwide network  and educational fund “Micro:Bit Foundation”. Traditional pimped bikes parade “Who did that to my bike” will rock Vilnius streets during “Vilnius Mini Maker Faire” too. Satuday will be dedicated to “Big vibrobots (robots, controlled by a vibrating motor) spree”. Vilnius Energy and Technology Museum will become an arena for vibrobots made out of washing machines. There will also be special mini arenas for “small vibrobots spree” where everyone will be able to test their DIY robots. On the same day projects created during Micro:Hackaton will be awarded.
